According to major foreign news outlets, on the afternoon of the 12th, an explosive went off during a joint Friday prayer at a mosque in the Spin Ghar area of Nangarhar Province. At least 3 people were reported dead and 15 injured due to the explosion.
Mosque attacks targeting the 'Friday prayer,' which gathers the largest number of worshippers, have been recurring in Afghanistan since the Taliban regained power. The Islamic State's Afghan branch, IS-K, an extremist armed group, carried out suicide bombings at a Shia mosque in Kunduz in the north on the 8th of last month, and at a Shia mosque in Kandahar in the south on the 15th, causing around 100 casualties in each attack.
