Jinju-si Breaks Ground on 'Sinandong Complex Sports Town' Development
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province held a groundbreaking ceremony on the 12th for the construction of the Sinan-dong Complex Sports Town.
The Sinan-dong Complex Sports Town project will involve a total investment of 27.5 billion KRW, including 8.9 billion KRW from national and provincial funds and 18.6 billion KRW from city funds.
On a 53,805㎡ site in Sinan-dong 1-5 area, the project will include one soccer field, nine tennis courts, one ground golf course, two gateball courts, rest facilities, a park, walking trails, and a National Sports Center.
The sports facilities such as the soccer and tennis courts, along with buffer green spaces and other infrastructure, are scheduled to be completed by the first half of next year. The National Sports Center, which will include a swimming pool, will proceed through a design competition with a target completion in 2023.
Once the Complex Sports Town project is completed, the city expects a significant improvement in residents' living environment by enabling sports activities in a better environment.

Mayor Jo Gyu-il stated, "With the construction of the Sinan-dong Complex Sports Town, the improvement of the aging Jinju Public Stadium sports facilities and the resolution of the lack of community sports facilities in the western area will allow citizens to use sports facilities in a pleasant environment. We will ensure construction proceeds without inconvenience to users and make every effort to complete it early."
