Ulsan~Gwangju~Gangwon~KBSI Establish Ultra-Wide National 'Geomagnetic Field' Research Infrastructure
Ulsan City to Lead Carbon Neutrality Achievement and Advanced Energy Technology Development
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the afternoon of the 12th, Ulsan City signed a business agreement to establish a 'Super-wide Area National High Magnetic Field Research Infrastructure.'
Ulsan City, Gwangju City, Gangwon Province, and the Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI) pledged cooperation.
The purpose is to jointly achieve three goals: building a high magnetic field research and development infrastructure, fostering related industries, and balanced regional development.
KBSI is responsible for establishing the national high magnetic field research infrastructure and operating research support facilities, while comprehensively supporting research bases in the three regions.
Ulsan City plans to establish and operate an energy-centered high magnetic field research infrastructure, Gwangju City will focus on new materials, and Gangwon Province will focus on medical and life sciences.
High magnetic field technology is a core of advanced science and technology, utilized in superconducting turbines, energy storage devices, magnetic resonance imaging equipment, high magnetic field research equipment industries, electric vehicles, nuclear fusion, and vaccine development.
Once the research infrastructure is established, balanced regional development is expected by distributing facilities to create synergistic effects with local related industries.
Additionally, eco-friendly research such as clean energy source development, maximizing energy efficiency, and reducing carbon emissions will be activated, contributing to related product development and job creation.
