POSCO Creates 25,000 Jobs Over 3 Years… Kim Bu-gyeom "Grateful for Bold Decision"
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] POSCO Group announced on the 10th its plan to create a total of 25,000 jobs over the next three years, including direct hires.
The government and POSCO Group signed a partnership for the "Youth Hope ON Project" at the 'POSCO Center' located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the same day.
POSCO Group promised to directly hire a total of 14,000 people over the next three years and create 11,000 jobs through expanded venture investments and other initiatives.
POSCO plans to significantly expand direct hiring in new business areas such as secondary battery materials, hydrogen, and new divisions for POSCO Chemical's anode and cathode materials. Additionally, it will invest a total of 536 billion KRW, including 430 billion KRW for venture fund formation and 106 billion KRW for creating venture valleys like 'Changeup Ground,' aiming to create 5,900 jobs.
Furthermore, the employment support program "For You Dream" will be expanded to produce 5,100 trainees over three years. This includes ▲Employment Academy with 1,200 people annually (previously 800) ▲Startup Incubating School with 200 people annually (previously 100) ▲Youth Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Academy with 300 people annually (previously 200).
Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, who attended the event, said, "POSCO created a miracle from the sandy fields of Pohang where there was nothing, and now I hope that miracle will happen for our youth as well," adding, "I deeply appreciate POSCO Group for making this bold decision."

Having completed partnerships with KT, Samsung, LG, SK, and now POSCO, Prime Minister Kim said, "In a situation where it is extremely difficult for young people to find jobs, the parent generation could not just stand by, so this initiative was started," and expressed hope that "if young people receive good education and find good jobs, and companies hire customized talent, both youth, companies, and the nation can achieve a 'triple win' effect."
