On the morning of the 10th, Candidate Ahn posted on his Facebook under the title "In an era where science and technology and diplomacy are one, a domestic-use legal professional president cannot protect the Republic of Korea," expressing this view.
Candidate Ahn explained, "Due to the global supply chain restructuring, advanced technology components such as semiconductors and secondary batteries, as well as materials that do not require special technology like urea solution and scrap metal, have become strategic materials. An enormous crisis is approaching our country, which depends heavily on overseas sources and lives on exports," adding, "Science and technology have become a matter of life and death, not just a matter of livelihood."
He then pointed out the major party presidential candidates’ low understanding of science and technology, saying, "Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, lacks not only morality. If you look at his declaration of candidacy, there is not a single word like 'science,' 'technology,' 'global,' or 'world,'" and criticized, "He has no idea how we can overcome the new US-China cold war situation."
Regarding Yoon Seok-youl, the People Power Party presidential candidate, Candidate Ahn said, "Yoon stated in his declaration of candidacy that 'now wars are fought not with guns but with semiconductor chips.' However, Yoon’s vision for science and technology only mentions a very small part necessary for Korea not to fall behind in the international division of labor system," and pointed out, "He has no grasp at all of how global trends are progressing or how science and technology are influencing them."
Candidate Ahn raised his voice, saying, "What the entrenched major party candidates without a future vision through science and technology policy can do is nothing but 'populist handouts' and negative political fights of 'You go to jail,'" and emphasized, "Legal professionals cannot lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution era."
