Gyeongsan-si, First Nationwide to Conduct COVID-19 Diagnostic Tests Independently... Faster Quarantine Response
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gyeongsan City in Gyeongbuk Province will be the first among public health centers nationwide to conduct its own COVID-19 RT-PCR diagnostic tests starting from the 15th.
Gyeongsan City has focused on independently establishing diagnostic testing infrastructure to respond to and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Gyeongsan City Public Health Center passed the 'quality assessment' that determines testing accuracy and was designated as a COVID-19 testing institution by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on the 1st.
RT-PCR diagnostic testing is the global standard method for detecting COVID-19 infection. It is a type of gene amplification test with high sensitivity and accuracy, allowing for rapid confirmation of test results.
Previously, tests were outsourced to the Gyeongbuk Institute of Health and Environment or private testing centers, but with Gyeongsan City's own diagnostic testing, results can be confirmed within 4 to 5 hours, significantly reducing time and costs.
