Jangheung-gun, Enforcement of Restrictions on Operation of Old Diesel Vehicles
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do will implement restrictions on the operation of Grade 5 emission vehicles that have not undergone low-emission measures during high-concentration fine dust emergency reduction measures starting next month.
This measure aims to reduce air pollutants and create a pleasant air environment by restricting the operation of old diesel vehicles that exceed emission standards during emergencies.
According to the county on the 9th, the restrictions will be enforced from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. during high-concentration fine dust emergency reduction measures starting next month, targeting old diesel vehicles (Grade 5) that exceed emission standards.
Violations will result in three warnings (only one warning per day for multiple violations, and subsequent warnings issued after 10 days from the previous one), and from the fourth violation, a fine of 100,000 KRW will be imposed.
The county plans to use unmanned CCTV cameras with vehicle number recognition installed at four major road points, including the Jangheung IC intersection, for enforcement.
However, emergency vehicles, vehicles for the disabled, national merit vehicles, vehicles that cannot be equipped with emission reduction devices, commercial vehicles, and vehicles that have completed low-emission measures are exempt from enforcement. The restrictions will not be enforced on weekends and public holidays.
The county will actively promote low-emission measure projects (early scrapping, installation of reduction devices, replacement of construction machinery engines, purchase of new LPG cargo vehicles, etc.) targeting the restricted vehicles (old diesel vehicles).
Grade 5 emission vehicles can be checked on the ‘Vehicle Emission Grade System’ website operated by the Ministry of Environment, and detailed enforcement information can be found under ‘Operation Restrictions · Enforcement Targets’ on the website.
