[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] In the Gwangju area, confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have occurred, including cluster infections at large corporate workplaces.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 9th, 11 people were confirmed positive in one day, classified as cases 5498 to 5508.
There were 4 cases related to a large workplace in Gwangsan-gu, 2 related to previously confirmed cases, 4 confirmed cases from other cities and provinces, and 1 related to an administrative order for a job placement agency.
The infections related to the large workplace were family members or acquaintances of factory workers. After one family member, a student at an elementary school located in Imgok-dong, was confirmed positive the previous day, a full investigation found one classmate also infected.
The 2 cases related to previously confirmed patients were either family infections or workplace colleagues.
Among the 4 confirmed cases from other cities and provinces, one was the spouse of Jeonnam case number 3697, indicating family transmission. Another was confirmed positive before release from quarantine and was related to a confirmed case in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon; this individual’s nationality is Kazakhstan. Additionally, there was one dental hospital worker and one workplace colleague.
The one case related to the administrative order for the job placement agency was confirmed positive in a test before release from quarantine, and the nationality is East Timor.
