"Let's Create a Great Workplace"… POSCO Inter Accelerates Adoption of New Normal Work Environment
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] POSCO International announced on the 9th that it has embarked on a transformation to become a company suited for the new normal era by expanding smart offices, implementing flexible work systems, and introducing intergenerational coexistence programs.
First, to continuously discover new business opportunities, POSCO International is expanding smart offices considering the environment of employees who need to establish diverse businesses. POSCO International currently operates smart offices in POSCO Tower and POSCO Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, as well as a WeWork shared office in Seoul Square, Jung-gu.
In particular, the smart office established in POSCO Center last June is equipped with about 80 workstations, meeting rooms, focus rooms, and a caf? lounge.
On average, about 60 POSCO International employees use the hub offices daily, and approximately 650 employees, accounting for 60% of the total workforce, have visited this year.
Additionally, starting mid-this month, POSCO International plans to secure separate spaces at Park One in Yeouido and Geumsegi Building in Gangbuk, which are operated at the group level, replacing WeWork, to enhance employees' work flexibility and reduce commuting time.
Moreover, POSCO International implements a flexible work system that considers the nature of its business, which involves extensive overseas dealings, and the individual life cycles of employees. Since its introduction in January 2019, the flexible work system has been used an average of 710 times per month, with usage gradually increasing. POSCO International explained that it is mainly used for self-development and childcare.
Furthermore, by allowing casual dress codes and other measures, POSCO International is creating a more flexible and autonomous work environment, actively adopting collaboration platforms to facilitate communication among employees in new ways.
In addition, POSCO International operates various intergenerational coexistence communication programs centered on the MZ generation. Representative programs include reverse mentoring, where employees born in the 1990s mentor executives, online meetings using various tools such as Teams, Padlet, and the metaverse, and peer collaboration appreciation programs.
