Choi Gwan-ho, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, said at a press briefing on the 8th, "So far, four cases have been reported and requested for investigation," adding, "They were assigned according to the usual allocation procedures, and considering the importance of the cases and public interest, investigations are underway."
The Seoul City Audit Committee conducted an audit from August 19 to September 17 and reported 11 representatives of veranda-type solar power supply companies (2 cooperatives and 9 general companies) to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for suspicions such as illegal subcontracting. The police assigned the four reported and requested cases to Namdaemun Police Station (2 cases), Yongsan Police Station, and Yangcheon Police Station, respectively.
Regarding the gas leak accident at a construction site in Geumcheon-gu, which resulted in 4 deaths and 17 injuries, five people including the site manager, safety manager, and supervision company have been booked on charges of professional negligence causing death and injury. The police are reported to have identified some shortcomings in post-accident measures and equipment supervision. Commissioner Choi explained, "Nearly 50 people have been investigated, and two places including the supervision company have been searched," adding, "We are closely examining the accident circumstances and compliance with safety regulations."
