Musk Asks on Twitter, "Should I Sell 10% of Tesla Stock?" Amid Billionaire Tax Debate Survey
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Elon Musk, CEO of American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, drew attention on the 6th (local time) by posting a poll on Twitter asking whether he should sell 10% of his Tesla shares to cash out.
That afternoon, Musk wrote on Twitter, "There has been much discussion recently about unrealized gains being used as a means of tax avoidance," adding, "Therefore, I propose selling 10% of my Tesla shares."
The post included a poll asking whether people support Musk selling his Tesla shares.
Musk added, "Whatever conclusion comes out, I will follow the poll results," and "It should be noted that I do not receive a salary or bonus in cash anywhere, and only hold shares, so to pay taxes, I have no choice but to sell shares."
This means he is fully entrusting the decision on whether to sell his stake to the judgment of his 62.55 million followers and netizens.
