‘Gapyeong Talent Donation Professional Workforce Bank’ Launch Ceremony and Chairman Han Gyudong Inauguration Ceremony to be Held on the 14th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gapyeong Talent Donation Professional Workforce Bank (Chairman Han Gyudong) announced that on the 14th at 3 PM, it will hold the launch ceremony and inauguration ceremony of the ‘Gapyeong Talent Donation Professional Workforce Bank’ at '1939 Music Station,' located at 100 Seokbong-ro, Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong-gun.
The ‘Gapyeong Talent Donation Professional Workforce Bank’ was launched after a two-year preparation process centered around the presidents of the alumni associations of four middle and high schools in Gapyeong-gun.
Until now, each school had conducted special lectures by alumni as mentors for students of their alma mater on career paths and college admissions. In 2015, the Seorak Middle and High School Alumni Association established the Talent Donation Mentor Group (led by Han Gyudong), where three alumni visit the school monthly to give special lectures. Once a year, a career festival gathering all students was created, featuring career festivals that shared the know-how of successful alumni from various professions, which has been successfully held five times.
To reach a wider variety of professions and meet more students as mentors, the ‘Gapyeong-gun Talent Donation Talent Pool Professional Workforce Bank’ was launched.
Now, about 400 experts, including mentors and advisory committee members active in various fields such as politics, law, education, economy, culture, agriculture, craftsmanship, and sports, who are from Gapyeong-gun, have pledged to donate their talents for the youth of the Gapyeong area.
In particular, even those who are not originally from Gapyeong but currently reside there or have been recommended by acquaintances have been appointed as advisory committee members and are participating.
The ‘Gapyeong Talent Donation Professional Workforce Bank’ has already been registered as a non-profit organization and as a community organization in Gapyeong, and will participate in various activities to donate talents to the local community in the future. Those who serve as mentors will be granted educational volunteer hours.
Chairman Han Gyudong plans to hold job fairs for students, linking alumni companies with employment opportunities. Villages and companies within Gapyeong will support and participate in various ways for students, encouraging companies to participate as part of their social contribution projects.
Especially as a solution to the population decline in Gapyeong-gun, there is a long-term goal to enable young people from Gapyeong to settle and live in Gapyeong through good jobs. He stated that sharing one’s talents is expected to have a significant social value impact on the region and our society.
At the launch ceremony on the 14th, students from the four schools will perform club activities and music as a pre-event.
Han Gyudong, inaugurated as the first chairman, retired honorably in 2019 as a Seoul city government official at the rank of secretary general. He currently serves as an advisory committee member of the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development, director of the Korea Calligraphy Design Association, director of the Calligraphy Division of the Korea Fine Arts Association, and director of the Eunpyeong Cultural Foundation. He is also active as a poet and calligraphy artist, having served as a judge for the 33rd Chusa Kim Jeonghee Master Calligraphy Competition, chief judge for the calligraphy division of the 38th National Art Exhibition, and conducted an event promoting the excellence of Hangul worldwide through calligraphy performances at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
