73 Confirmed Cases in Gyeongnam... Cluster Infection Centered on Changwon Medical Institutions Driving Spread
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] As COVID-19 continues to spread centered around a nursing hospital in Changwon, Gyeongnam, the number of confirmed cases in Gyeongnam has more than doubled.
Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 5th at 5 p.m. that 73 new confirmed cases occurred in the province. By region, there were 54 in Changwon, 5 each in Jinju, Sacheon, and Geoje, 2 in Goseong, and 1 each in Haman and Changnyeong.
Among the 54 confirmed cases in Changwon, 42 are related to Medical Institution II located in Changwon, including 5 staff members and 37 patients. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to Medical Institution II in Changwon to 267.
Five cases are contacts of confirmed cases within the province, 2 were tested due to symptom onset, and 1 was tested at their own request. Additionally, 1 case (Gyeongnam 13255) is a contact of a confirmed case from another region, 1 was exposed to the movement of a confirmed case related to the Seoul metropolitan area, and 2 are related to a school in Changwon.
Among the 5 confirmed cases in Jinju, 4 are contacts of confirmed cases within the province, and 1 was tested due to symptom onset.
Among the 5 confirmed cases in Sacheon, 4 are contacts of confirmed cases within the province, and 1 is a coworker of a confirmed case related to the Seoul metropolitan area.
Among the 5 confirmed cases in Geoje, 2 are patients related to a medical institution located in Geoje.
One case is a contact of a confirmed case within the province, 1 is an acquaintance of a contact of a confirmed case within the province, and 1 is a family member of a confirmed case related to a company located in Geoje.
The 2 confirmed cases in Goseong are contacts of confirmed cases within the province.
The 1 confirmed case in Haman and the 1 confirmed case in Changnyeong were tested due to symptom onset.
