High School Student Shot During Shooting Training... Shooting Range Manager and Coach Booked
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Shooting range managers and coaches have been booked by the police for negligence in safety management that resulted in injury to a student during training.
The Nowon Police Station in Seoul announced on the 5th that they have booked a man in his 50s, the manager of the Taereung International Shooting Range, and two men in their 20s who are high school shooting team coaches, on charges of professional negligence causing injury, and are currently investigating.
They are accused of failing to properly manage safety at the Taereung Shooting Range in Nowon-gu on August 28, causing injury to student A, a member of the school's shooting team.
The police reportedly secured witness statements that A moved behind the target during shooting. A was hit by a .22 caliber pistol bullet near his left shoulder and chest and was taken to the hospital, but his life was not in danger.
At the time of the accident, it was found that three people, including the coaches, were leading the students without a safety manager present. The police have not yet booked the student who fired the shot at A.
