Jeonju City Supports Separate Waste Bins for Old Multi-family and Row Houses
Support for Separate Waste Bins at a Total of 40 Locations
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City announced on the 5th that it plans to support recycling bins at 40 locations of multiplex housing and multi-family/multi-unit houses where the environment for separate collection of recyclables has not been properly established.
Since the Waste Management Ordinance was amended in July 2008, the installation of recycling bins has been mandatory for multiplex housing and multi-unit houses. However, this measure aims to increase the recycling rate in houses completed before the ordinance amendment, which were excluded from the mandatory installation of recycling bins.
The support targets are multiplex housing and multi-family/multi-unit houses under Article 2, Paragraph 2 of the Building Act, completed before July 9, 2008. Applicants must have space for installing recycling bins on private property without hindering the collection of recyclables.
The recycling bin dimensions are 2.44m in width, 0.5m in depth, and 1.13m in height.
Housing managers who wish to apply can download the application form from the Jeonju City website and submit it in person or by mail to the Jeonju City Cleaning Support Division, or apply via email or fax.
The selection results will be individually notified within 7 days after receipt, and applications will close once the recycling bins are exhausted.
Separately, starting from the 25th of next month, with the full implementation of separate collection of transparent PET bottles, the city plans to reattach plaques to 160 recycling bins installed by the city and replace 330 aging recycling bins.
Additionally, since last month, 76 resource management assistants who were deployed in apartment complexes will be assigned to single-family housing areas to promote separate collection. Furthermore, ‘on-site experiential separate collection education’ will be provided for community leaders and self-governing organizations.
