[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Good Neighbors Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters (Director Bae Junyeol) announced that it conducted the ‘Child Abuse National Watchdog’ campaign targeting residents of Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, together with Buk-gu Office (District Mayor Moon In) at the Buk-gu Office square in celebration of Child Abuse Prevention Week.
According to the major statistics on child abuse announced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2020, the number of child abuse cases showed a continuous increasing trend, rising from 18,700 cases in 2016 to 30,905 cases in 2020.
Also, the detection rate of child victims judged as abused in Korea is 4.02‰, which is more than half lower compared to major advanced countries, highlighting the importance of early detection and prevention of child abuse above all.
Good Neighbors conducts the Child Abuse National Watchdog campaign to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of interest and detection in eradicating child abuse and to pledge reporting when abused children are discovered.

Bae Junyeol, Director of Good Neighbors Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, said, “I hope this campaign will serve as an opportunity to strengthen social awareness and sensitivity toward child abuse,” adding, “We will continue to conduct campaigns for child abuse prevention to create an environment where children can grow up more safely.”
