40s Arrested for Self-Immolation Incident at Upbit Office in Gangnam-gu
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A man in his 40s who caused a self-immolation incident at a virtual asset exchange office has been booked by the police.
According to the police on the 5th, the Suseo Police Station in Seoul has booked and is investigating a man in his 40s, Mr. A, on suspicion of attempted arson of an occupied building.
Mr. A is accused of visiting the Upbit office in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at around 4:20 p.m. the previous day, dousing himself with thinner and taking out a lighter. The police responded to the report and secured his custody.
During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated that he suffered financial losses due to investment failure.
The police plan to decide whether to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A once the investigation is complete.
