Hyundai Motor Group Holds First Softier Programming Festival... "Strengthening SW Development Capabilities"
1000 Employees Participate from 4 Companies Including Hyundai Motor, Kia, Hyundai Mobis, and Hyundai AutoEver
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Hyundai Motor Group recently announced on the 5th that it held the '1st Softeer Programming Festival,' an internal software programming competition for employees, to find pioneers in the vehicle software field.
The Softeer Programming Festival, held the day before, was promoted to strengthen Hyundai Motor Group's software capabilities while boosting the morale of in-house software developers, Hyundai Motor Group explained.
This inaugural competition was conducted by having participants solve problems, designed considering Hyundai Motor Group's diverse business characteristics, using various programming languages. Employees programmed to find the assembly line that can produce a new car the fastest in a complex automobile assembly line. The competition utilized the Softeer platform, Hyundai Motor Group's software capability verification system.
The competition saw participation from about 1,000 developers across four companies: ▲Hyundai Motor ▲Kia ▲Hyundai Mobis ▲Hyundai AutoEver, and 40 finalists were selected through preliminary rounds held in October.
In the finals, the final winners were selected based on the order of developers who solved four problems in the shortest time within three hours. The first-place winner received a prize of 10 million KRW. Additionally, a total of nine people were honored with awards: second place (2 people, 5 million KRW), third place (3 people, 3 million KRW), and encouragement awards (3 people, 1 million KRW).
A Hyundai Motor Group official stated, "In the future, we plan to expand the event participants to external developers as well, preparing a format where internal and external developers can interact and compete with each other," adding, "Continuous hosting of the competition will greatly help strengthen Hyundai Motor Group's software development capabilities."

Meanwhile, on the 10th and 11th, Hyundai Motor Group will hold the HMG Developer Conference for the first time, a place where internal developers share their experiences and know-how with external developers. The conference will consist of developer presentation sessions, keynote sessions, and external speaker sessions, and will be conducted online for the general public and students.
