"3000pi eoryeopne"…KOSPI falters early in trading, slipping back to 2900s
KOSDAQ Maintains 1000-Level Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI, which started slightly higher in the 3000 range, gave up its early gains and fell back to the 2900 level.
On the 5th, the KOSPI opened at 3003.53, up 0.68% (20.31 points) from the previous day. However, it soon gave up the gains and dropped to 2978.10 as of 9:19 a.m.
Foreign investors and institutions, who had net bought the previous day, showed net selling in the early session. They sold 17.7 billion KRW and 48.3 billion KRW respectively, while individuals net bought 64.1 billion KRW.
Almost all sectors were in decline. Banks (-3.64%), pharmaceuticals (-1.54%), construction (-1.47%), and steel & metals (-1.41%) saw the largest drops. Textile & apparel (3.27%) and electrical & electronics (0.50%) rose.
Among the top 10 market capitalization stocks, Kia had the largest gain at 1.61%. It was followed by SK Hynix (1.42%), Hyundai Motor (0.70%), Samsung Electronics (0.57%), and LG Chem (0.25%). Celltrion (-1.44%), Kakao (-0.77%), Samsung Biologics (-0.69%), NAVER (-0.61%), and Samsung SDI (-0.53%) declined.
The KOSDAQ showed a similar trend. It opened at 1006.04, up 0.46% (4.61 points) from the previous day, but fell to 1002.83 as of 9:19 a.m.
In the KOSDAQ market as well, foreign investors and institutions turned to net selling. They sold 44.1 billion KRW and 8 billion KRW respectively. Individuals net bought 52.1 billion KRW.
More sectors declined. Publishing & media reproduction (-1.49%), information devices (-1.33%), construction (-1.30%), and distribution (-1.23%) saw the largest drops. General electrical & electronics (2.35%), semiconductors (1.19%), and broadcasting services (0.82%) rose.

Most of the top 10 market capitalization stocks rose. Ecopro BM (7.28%) and Pearl Abyss (5.33%) showed notable gains. They were followed by Kakao Games (2.52%), L&F (1.85%), CJ ENM (1.32%), and HLB (0.24%). Wemade (-5.09%), Celltrion Pharm (-1.76%), Celltrion Healthcare (-1.54%), and SK Materials (-1.00%) declined.
