[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Do you know about ‘Youth Day’? Youth Day, which became a legal commemorative day four years ago, falls on the third Saturday of September every year.
The 2021 5th Korea Youth Day Festival, “Youth, Coloring Korea!”, celebrating the designation of the legal commemorative day and supporting youth, will be held on the 6th at the Peace Plaza in Olympic Park, Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
This festival will feature a variety of programs including the 4th Industrial Revolution Employment and Startup Festival with Koscom and the Korea Youth Entrepreneurship Foundation, a flash mob, a cheerleading festival with over 40 university cheering squads nationwide, the Creator Awards, and the Overseas Youth Quiz Contest with the National Institute for International Education.
Also, Simon Dominic (Samdi), Davichi, Zion.T, Lee Hi, izi, and Bijou will take the stage. A concert will be held from 6:30 PM to 9 PM to enrich the festival.
The performances will take place on a special stage at the Peace Plaza in Olympic Park, and admission is free.
In accordance with the government’s social distancing guidelines, all quarantine measures for the event will be safely implemented in agreement with the local government. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the event will be held with seating instead of standing.
All seats will be assigned through a lottery, and there will be opportunities to interact with the singers through events such as signed CDs and photo sessions.
The Youth Day Festival will also be broadcast online via Youth TV (YouTube, Youth and Future channel).
The Youth Day commemorative festival began in 2016 when the nonprofit organization Youth and Future first proposed the designation of Youth Day as a legal commemorative day.
This year, Youth Day was on September 18. The Youth Day Festival is a large-scale youth-led participatory festival that has been held annually from 2017, when the 1st Youth Day Festival was hosted by the nonprofit organization Youth and Future, through 2020.
The 2021 5th Korea Youth Day Festival appointed National Assembly members Jang Kyung-tae and Heo Eun-ah as co-mentoring chairpersons.
At the “2021 5th Korea Youth Day Opening Ceremony,” presidential candidates from both ruling and opposition parties, Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul, and Hong Woo-sun, CEO of Koscom, are scheduled to attend and give congratulatory speeches.
