Hwasun-gun Enacts Ordinance to Support University Students and Meritorious Persons
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 4th that it is promoting the enactment and revision of ordinances to activate residents' participation in military administration and support college students and meritorious persons for livelihood stability.
On the same day, the county held an ordinance and regulation review meeting and approved seven ordinance and regulation enactments and revisions, including the "Ordinance on Supporting College Students' Student Loan Interest in Hwasun-gun" and the "Ordinance on Supporting Menstrual Products for Female Adolescents in Hwasun-gun."
It is also promoting the enactment of an ordinance to reduce the burden of student loan interest for college students.
According to the "Ordinance on Supporting College Students' Student Loan Interest in Hwasun-gun (Student Loan Interest Support Ordinance)," student loan interest will be supported for college students who meet certain requirements, such as having their own or direct ascendants' residence in Hwasun-gun for more than one year.
Once the student loan interest support ordinance is enacted and implemented, it is expected to help local college students and parents alleviate concerns about tuition fees.
The enactment of the "Ordinance on Supporting Menstrual Products for Female Adolescents in Hwasun-gun," which provides the basis for supporting menstrual products for female adolescents aged 11 to 18, is also being promoted.
The "Partial Amendment Ordinance on the Treatment and Support for National Veterans in Hwasun-gun," which raises the veterans' allowance from 30,000 won to 50,000 won per month and expands the recipients to include independence activists (patriots and national heroes), fallen military police officers, and May 18 Democratic Movement meritorious persons, was also reviewed and approved.
It also establishes the basis for residents to actively submit opinions on the enactment, revision, and abolition of regulations.
Once the "Ordinance on Submission of Opinions on the Enactment, Revision, and Abolition of Regulations in Hwasun-gun" is enacted and implemented, residents will be able to actively participate in the legislative process of autonomous regulations, which is expected to revitalize resident autonomy and promote local self-government.
The county plans to submit the ordinance and regulation enactment and revision proposals approved at the ordinance and regulation review meeting to the county council.
Governor Gu Chung-gon said, "We have enacted and revised ordinances to support college students, female adolescents, and others to promote military administration that respects residents' basic rights and social etiquette," adding, "We will continue to discover and actively promote ordinances closely related to residents' lives and livelihood stability."
