Prosecution summons Won Yu-cheol's wife for investigation over Hwacheon Daeyu false payment allegations
[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] The prosecution, investigating allegations of preferential treatment and lobbying in the Daejang-dong development project, is summoning the wife of former Future Korea Party leader Won Yoo-chul, who is suspected of receiving false salaries from Hwacheon Daeyu, for questioning.
According to the legal community on the 4th, the dedicated investigation team at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (team leader Kim Tae-hoon) summoned Mrs. Seo, the wife of former representative Won, as a witness in the afternoon to investigate related suspicions.
The investigation team believes that Kim Man-bae, the major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu, embezzled company funds by falsely listing names such as Mrs. Seo, his younger brother, and acquaintances, and paying them salaries.
Previously, Kim's second arrest warrant included charges of embezzlement of approximately 440 million won. In response, Hwacheon Daeyu explained, "Mrs. Seo was recruited as a social welfare expert with the intention of social contribution, investment, or business expansion in the social welfare field."
