KCC Holds the 12th Telecommunications Service Users Week
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The Korea Communications Commission announced on the 4th that it is currently holding the "12th Telecommunications Service User Week" event together with the Korea Information and Communication Promotion Association to promote a user-centered culture of safe and convenient telecommunications service use.
The event is held online over two days, from the 3rd to the 4th, under the slogan "Wise Telecommunications Service Life for Smart Users in the Online Platform Era." This year, a damage prevention promotional education center is operated on the metaverse platform 'Ifland,' allowing users to participate directly in the education.
On the first day of the event, the 3rd, a plaque of appreciation was awarded to the Comprehensive Support Center for the Elderly Living Alone, which contributed to the promotion of telecommunications service user rights, and to Jang Young, an instructor for damage prevention education. Awards were also given to outstanding works among the entries for the "Telecommunications Service Damage Prevention Webtoon Contest."
The grand prize of the webtoon contest was awarded to "Mom, It's Me," and the winner received a certificate and a prize of 2 million KRW. "Mom, It's Me" was praised by the judges for its calm and concise portrayal of user damage cases that may occur to the elderly.
On the second day of the event, "Telecommunications Service Utilization and Damage Prevention Education" and the "Online Platform User Protection Webinar" are held. In addition, various side events in which users can participate online are conducted, including collecting user opinions on simplifying difficult telecommunications terms, certification of broadcasting and communications unclaimed refund application results, certification of installation of youth harmful information blocking tools, quizzes related to preventing the distribution of illegal filming materials, and reporting floating advertisements.

Chairman Han Sang-hyuk of the Korea Communications Commission said in his congratulatory speech, "As remote education and telecommuting have become routine due to COVID-19, the importance of telecommunications connecting disconnected people is increasing," adding, "We will continue to strengthen support so that people with disabilities, low-income groups, and the elderly can enjoy the benefits of telecommunications services without inconvenience."
