[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 4th that it selected nine outstanding research projects, including the "Study on the Establishment of Camping Sites Utilizing Idle Land in the Province" proposed by public officials.
The province held a presentation contest to evaluate excellent policies discovered through the "2021 Public Officials Research Group."
At this presentation contest, the policy research projects of nine outstanding teams selected through the first round of document screening were shared and thoroughly evaluated for their applicability to provincial administration.
As a result of the evaluation, the Grand Prize was awarded to the "Glocal E-Farmers" team for their "Study on Expanding Exports of Agricultural and Marine Products Using an Online Platform." The Excellence Awards went to the "Dorangchigo Gajaejapgo" team for "Development of New Income from Fisheries Using Unused Resources in Rural Areas" and the "Nae Son Ane Muhwaga Smart Farm" team for "Proposal of a Future-Type Fig Smart Farm Production Model."
The "Glocal E-Farmers" team’s "Study on Expanding Exports of Agricultural and Marine Products Using an Online Platform" mainly involves establishing an online shopping mall in the United States for Jeonnam’s agricultural and marine products.
It received favorable evaluations for demonstrating the potential for diverse marketing uses through independent platform operation and opportunities to expand exports of agricultural and marine products.
The "Dorangchigo Gajaejapgo" team’s "Study on Development of New Income from Fisheries Using Unused Resources in Rural Areas" proposed a sea urchin aquaculture method utilizing discarded agricultural by-products such as cabbage.
It was well received for developing a new model to increase agricultural and fishery resources in rural areas.
The "Nae Son Ane Muhwaga Farm" team’s "Proposal of a Future-Type Fig Smart Farm Production Model" suggested introducing a precision sensor-based fig smart farm production model to innovate fig production.
The province plans to actively incorporate and develop these outstanding research projects into policies that residents can directly experience.
Kim Ki-hong, Policy Planning Officer of Jeonnam Province, said, "I express my gratitude to the participants who proposed meaningful policy tasks through cooperation among team members despite the difficult situation of restricted gatherings due to COVID-19," adding, "We will actively strive to ensure that the research results of each group are reflected in actual provincial administration and achieve results."
Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Province Public Officials Policy Research Group has been operating since 2004 to discover creative ideas through voluntary policy research by public officials and to reflect them in provincial administration.
So far, a total of 529 research projects have been produced, with about 60% of them actually reflected in provincial administration, contributing to fostering a research culture and enhancing research capabilities regarding local issues and policies within the public service. This year, 30 groups and a total of about 260 public officials conducted policy research through discussions, related field visits, and various other methods.
