HYBE "Seamless Collaboration and Expansion Across Domains... Will Grow into a Global Company"
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] HYBE, the agency of the group BTS, shared the present and future of the 'HYBE Business Model' through its official YouTube channel on the 4th. HYBE expressed its ambition to leap forward as a sustainable global company through 'Boundless' collaboration and expansion in four areas: ▲countries and regions ▲industries and industries ▲the present and future of fan experiences ▲a solid artist portfolio.
In the opening, HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk and Scooter Braun, who recently joined the board, explained the meaning of 'Boundless' between countries and regions. Following the merger with the US comprehensive media company Ithaca Holdings in April, HYBE reorganized its headquarters structure centered on bases in Korea, the US, and Japan in July. HYBE America and HYBE Japan plan to attempt new synergies within HYBE's business model.
On the same day, HYBE officially announced its entry into the non-fungible token (NFT) business in partnership with Dunamu, the operator of the domestic cryptocurrency exchange Upbit. This is part of the 'Boundless' business across industries, unfolding through the convergence of artist intellectual property (IP) and blockchain and fintech technologies.
HYBE also announced plans for a project to apply artist IP to stories by turning artist IP into webtoons or web novels. The 'Original Story' business expands the experience of music into a visual and reading experience. At the briefing, HYBE unveiled a teaser video for a new work signaling the official start of this business. Additionally, HYBE previewed a new version of Weverse aimed at strengthening communication between artists and fans, intending to break down the boundaries of fan experiences' present and future.
Lastly, HYBE explained the 'Boundless' nature of its artist portfolio and announced the upcoming debut of mega rookies prepared through HYBE's unique 'Glocalization' approach. The new artists will debut through a local training system that combines HYBE's DNA with business know-how from the US and Japan. Simultaneously, content documenting their selection and growth process will be broadcast worldwide through media programs.
HYBE CEO Park Ji-won said, “Although based on music, preparing various activities not limited to specific industrial sectors and imagining without limits and moving forward without fear is how HYBE prepares for the future.”
