According to the county on the 4th, on the 3rd, County Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan visited the National Assembly and actively requested an increase at the National Assembly level for projects reflected in next year's government budget proposal by meeting with Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party, Park Kwang-on, chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, and National Assembly members Shin Jeong-hoon and Eo Gi-gu, who belong to the National Assembly Budget and Accounts Special Committee.
He also met with National Assembly member Yoon Jae-gap to ask for interest and support for local pending projects requiring increased national funding during the National Assembly review process, such as the construction of a kimchi raw material supply complex and the maintenance of rural village sewage systems and sewage pipelines.
Regarding the kimchi raw material supply complex support project, with 435 million KRW allocated for facility design costs next year, he actively explained the need to raise the current 30% national subsidy rate in response to national-level issues such as the Chinese naked salted cabbage incident and the controversy over the origin of kimchi, as well as the necessity to foster the domestic kimchi processing industry.
Haenam, which accounts for 29% of the nation's autumn and winter cabbage cultivation area with 4,995 hectares, is promoting the establishment of a specialized kimchi production complex as a long-term priority task to revitalize the local cabbage industry.
Also, this year, a large-scale vegetable shipment control center worth 10 billion KRW was selected in a public contest by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, creating an environment for year-round kimchi production, making the establishment of a raw material supply system an urgent task.
The county plans to attract the kimchi raw material supply complex in line with next year's project schedule of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, emphasizing that national-level support is essential to foster a stable domestic kimchi industry that can replace Chinese kimchi.
Along with this, during this visit, he explained the current status of rural village sewage systems and sewage pipeline maintenance, where the county's financial burden is increasing due to the prolonged project period and increased total project cost, and actively requested the necessity of increased national funding support.
Haenam's rural sewage system coverage rate remains at 52.2%, far below the national average of 92.5%, ranking among the lowest, and various measures are being explored to rapidly increase the rural sewage system coverage rate.
Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan said, "We have sufficiently explained the necessity of national funding support for local pending projects in line with the National Assembly's budget review schedule for next year and reached a consensus," adding, "We will not relax our vigilance until the end and will focus the county administration's capabilities to secure as much national funding as possible."
