Gyeonggi-do, 'Controlling Stray Cat Population'... Creating a Coexistence Environment
157 Neutered This Year... Targeting 25,990 Animals
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province has conducted neutering of 157 stray cats this year through the 'Stray Cat Neutering Day' project.
According to the province on the 4th, in Goyang City, 82 female and 75 male stray cats were neutered in three sessions: 51 in May, 49 in June, and 57 in October.
This measure was taken in response to numerous complaints caused by the increasing stray cat population. The province, Goyang City, veterinarians, and animal protection activists jointly handled the capture, neutering, protection management, and release operations.
To create a coexistence environment with stray cats, the province is promoting the neutering (TNR) project (targeting 25,990 cats) for effective population control even after the 'Stray Cat Neutering Day' event.
Additionally, projects such as 'Support for Installation of Stray Cat Feeding Stations,' 'Research on Stray Cat Habitat Status and Management Standards,' and 'Construction of a Cat Adoption Center' are underway.
