Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, is performing a groundbreaking ceremony with attendees at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Shingil Cultural Sports Library on the afternoon of the 3rd.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by National Assembly members Kim Young-joo and Kim Min-seok, Go Ki-pan, Chairman of the District Council, Park Yong-chan, Party Committee Chairman, city and district council members, and resident representatives. The event concluded with a project progress report, commemorative speeches, congratulatory speeches, and the groundbreaking ceremony.
The newly constructed Shingil Cultural Sports Library will be built on the free acquisition site of Shingil New Town District 11, with a total floor area of 7,471㎡ and five floors above ground (two basement floors).
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Chae Hyun-il said, “The Shingil Cultural Sports Library will be a new concept library where both body and mind can be healed simultaneously. We will carry out the project without delay so that the Shingil Cultural Sports Library can become a new core facility of the premium residential complex in Shingil-dong.”
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, visited the site of the Jungnangcheon Park Golf Course, which was completed last month, on the 3rd.
The ‘Jungnangcheon Park Golf Course’ was finally selected with a 63.6% vote in a local resident survey conducted in February to select a resident-friendly project for the Jungnangcheon riverside.
Construction began at the end of June and was completed in mid-October. The course covers a total area of 8,000㎡ with 9 holes, a width of 5 to 25 meters, and a site extension of 415 meters.
Additionally, auxiliary facilities such as a golf practice range, clubhouse, and rest area for residents’ convenience are also provided.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap visited the site that day, received a progress report, and toured the facilities. Mayor Kim said, “Since Jungnangcheon is located nearby, there is a risk of flooding during heavy rain, so ‘safety’ must always be prioritized. I hope drainage facilities are well equipped and that residents’ opinions are collected as much as possible within regulations and manuals to safely reinforce the facilities.”
The Jungnangcheon Park Golf Course is scheduled to begin full operation early next year after the grass takes root and the winter dormancy period passes.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “The Jungnangcheon riverside was developed into a park golf course for leisure and cultural life by reflecting residents’ opinions. I hope many people use it and that it becomes a space where residents’ health improves.”
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, Seoul, visited the rice harvesting experience event with Madeul Nongyo at 11 a.m. on the 3rd.
This event was prepared to remind the importance of traditional culture by experiencing rice harvesting and threshing, which are usually difficult for elementary school students to experience, and learning Madeul Nongyo, the only agricultural song passed down in Seoul, at the rice farming experience learning center in Madeul Neighborhood Park.
‘Madeul Nongyo’ is a song sung to cheer farmers while farming in the Madeul Great Plain area, the old appearance of the Nowon area before it became an apartment complex, and is designated as Seoul City Intangible Cultural Property No. 22.
The event was attended by Mayor Oh Seung-rok, local elementary school students, and residents. It proceeded with the Madeul Nongyo new performer event, Hwimori Santaryeong placement, guest speeches, learning Madeul Nongyo, and rice harvesting and threshing experiences.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “The rice harvesting, threshing, and Madeul Nongyo performance are a good opportunity to bring back memories and nostalgia for the elderly and to inform children about traditions that are gradually disappearing and being forgotten. I express my gratitude to the Madeul Nongyo Preservation Society.”
Lee Jung-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, attended the lighting ceremony after creating a nightscape-specialized street with design lighting on the side road densely populated with stores in Myeongridan-gil on the 2nd for nightscape improvement.
Myeongridan-gil is a street with about 100 stores around Myeongil Station and Godeok-ro 38-gil, where residents and merchants have high expectations for revitalizing the commercial district.
This ‘Myeongridan-gil Nightscape Specialized Street’ project installed design lighting and string lights on a 200-meter side road densely populated with stores to improve pedestrian safety due to the increase in nighttime visitors, creating an emotional street.
The district expects that the creation of the Myeongridan-gil nightscape specialized street section will revitalize the local economy around Myeongridan-gil, which has been depressed due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, through effective nightscape improvement resulting from increased nighttime visitors.
The lighting ceremony was held simply with a small number of local residents participating to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including a lighting countdown and commemorative photo session.
