Namyangju Wangsuk 'Byeollae Line Extension Project' and 12 Other Projects Selected for Preliminary Feasibility Study
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seonhee] The Byeollae Line extension project of Namyangju Wangsuk 3rd New Town, scheduled to open in 2025, has been confirmed as a target for preliminary feasibility study (PFS). In addition, a total of 12 projects, including the Nakdong River Basin water intake source diversification project with a total project cost exceeding 2 trillion won, were included.
On the 3rd, Ando-geol, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, held the '6th Fiscal Project Evaluation Committee' and deliberated and approved the agenda including the selection of the 3rd PFS target projects and the results of feasibility re-examination, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced.
The Byeollae Line extension project, which extends the double-track railway by 3.2 km connecting Byeollae Station and Byeolgaram Station, was included in the PFS target to timely expand the wide-area transportation network of the 3rd New Town. Also, three road projects including Busan Hwangryeong 3 Tunnel, Daejeon Yuseong-daero~Hwasan Bridge, and Ulsan 2nd Myeongchon Bridge, reflected in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's '4th Metropolitan Area Traffic Congestion Road Improvement Plan,' were selected.
Two airport projects, Baengnyeong Small Airport and Seosan Military Airfield Civil Aviation Facilities, aimed at improving convenience for residents in transportation-disadvantaged areas such as islands, will also undergo PFS. Additionally, the Gunsan Port 2nd Dredged Soil Disposal Site creation project, for securing water depth and handling dredged soil for safe ship navigation, was included in the PFS target.
Other projects included in the PFS target are ▲Nakdong River Basin water intake source diversification project ▲Daejeon Complex Science and Culture Space (Central Science Hall) creation ▲Establishment of Climate Change Response Center in the Agriculture and Food Sector ▲Construction of Remote Management System for Chemical Accidents ▲Next-generation Integrated Information System for Agriculture and Forestry Projects, totaling 12 projects.
The selected target projects will proceed with preliminary procedures such as selecting investigation institutions like the Korea Development Institute (KDI) and the Korea Institute of Public Finance, and forming expert research teams, and are expected to officially start the PFS investigation within 1 to 2 months.
Vice Minister Ahn stated, "The selected PFS target projects were chosen focusing on projects that meet the selection criteria under the PFS laws and guidelines and have high priority in national policy."

Furthermore, the Fiscal Project Evaluation Committee resolved that two PFS projects, 'Convergence Special Video Content Cluster' and 'Seonakdong River Basin National River Maintenance,' and one feasibility re-examination project, 'Danginri Cultural Creation Power Plant Creation,' which underwent comprehensive evaluation in September-October, have secured feasibility. These three projects will proceed through procedures such as total project cost registration and management and phased budget reflection.
