Unittest and Korea Electric Power Corporation Jointly Develop Glass Window-Type Solar Cells
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] UniTest announced that it signed an agreement on the 3rd to jointly promote the 'Development of a Commercial-grade 200W Glass Window-type Perovskite Solar Cell Prototype and Outdoor Exposure Test' with Korea Electric Power Corporation.
To develop the 'Glass Window-type Perovskite Solar Cell' product, the two companies will invest approximately 30 billion KRW in research and development and cooperate technologically until 2025, while exploring various commercialization strategies for product commercialization.
For technological cooperation, a milestone plan will be established annually over the next four years. Each year, the schedule will proceed with the development of design and manufacturing technologies for glass window-type perovskite solar cells, technology development for panel production, prototype manufacturing, and certification evaluation and monitoring inspection through outdoor installation, with the results reviewed and evaluated.
The glass window-type perovskite solar cell is applied as BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaics), incorporating solar cells into materials used in building construction. It has the advantage of reducing installation costs. It is semi-transparent and capable of realizing various colors.
BIPV is integrated into buildings by installing photovoltaic power generation systems on roofs, exterior walls, curtain walls, and glass windows to produce and use electricity independently, thereby improving energy efficiency. It is advantageous in the domestic environment with many high-rise buildings, and growth in the BIPV market is expected.
