20s Man Attempted Sexual Assault on Female Student in Apartment Underground Parking, Sent to Prosecution
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 20s who attempted to sexually assault a teenage female student in an apartment underground parking lot and assaulted a woman who witnessed the incident has been handed over to the prosecution.
Seoul Gwanak Police Station announced on the 2nd that Kim (22), who is suspected of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse (attempted rape) and assault, has been sent to the prosecution in custody.
According to the police, Kim is accused of attempting to sexually assault a teenage female student, A, in the underground parking lot of an apartment in Gwanak-gu around 10:30 p.m. on the 23rd of last month. He is also accused of assaulting a woman in her 40s who witnessed the incident and shouted for help before fleeing the scene.
Kim was arrested at the scene, and the victims were taken to the hospital with injuries to their faces and heads, but their lives are not in danger.
The police confirmed the escape route through closed-circuit television (CCTV) and apprehended Kim on a nearby road. It was reported that immediately after being caught, Kim mocked the victims by sticking out his tongue.
During the police investigation, Kim stated that he was intoxicated and could not remember the incident, but the police secured surrounding CCTV footage to prove the charges and applied for an arrest warrant.
