With Corona, Remote Work Ratio ↓·In-Person Meetings ↑... Companies Taking Steps Toward Normalization
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] As South Korea's COVID-19 quarantine system transitions to 'With Corona,' a phased return to normal life starting from the 1st, companies have begun steps to normalize their operations.
LG Group has relaxed the work-from-home ratio to around 30% for its major affiliates starting today and applied internal quarantine guidelines that ease standards for face-to-face meetings, group training, and event attendance. Regardless of vaccination status, meetings are allowed with up to 20 people, group training up to 30 people, and events up to 50 people. Facilities such as gyms and cafes within the company will also operate normally.
LG stated, "While fully considering government guidelines, we plan to gradually apply the eased social distancing rules with employee safety as the top priority."
Doosan Group has decided that employees who have completed COVID-19 vaccination will, in principle, work on-site. Although non-face-to-face meetings were mainly held during the COVID-19 period, face-to-face meetings are now permitted, and domestic and overseas business trips have been allowed. Previously, business trips required approval if the destination was a domestic area at level 2 or higher or a high-risk overseas country. Additionally, this measure allows internal training and events with fewer than 50 people.
However, some companies have expressed that they will carefully review easing internal guidelines while monitoring the COVID-19 situation. Samsung Electronics is maintaining current quarantine guidelines for now while reviewing possible relaxations. Earlier last month, Samsung Electronics announced new quarantine guidelines easing restrictions on overseas business trips and face-to-face meetings, continuing policies such as 30% rotational work-from-home for employees.
