[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon Technopark (Incheon TP) is conducting a 'Package Support Service Project' to assist bio companies in research and development (R&D) and commercialization.

As part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Industrial Innovation Technology Support Platform Construction Project, it utilizes the equipment and experts of research-based centers to help domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies develop and commercialize bio products.

Six institutions are participating in this project, including Pohang TP-Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Research Institute (natural product-based health foods), Busan TP-Yangsan Busan National University Hospital (biopharmaceuticals and medical devices), and Keimyung University-Daegu Gyeongbuk Advanced Medical Industry Promotion Foundation (medical devices).

For natural product-based health foods, support is provided for material discovery and efficacy evaluation, standardization of raw material production processes and self-quality inspection, formulation process support, and prototype production consulting.

For pharmaceuticals, support includes non-clinical official testing and clinical trial IRB consulting; for medical devices, consulting and prototype production, medical device efficacy and performance evaluation, usability evaluation, and certification are provided.

Applications for support can be submitted through the Industrial Technology Development Equipment Shared Use System iTube by the 5th of this month.

An Incheon TP official stated, "We plan to support solving companies' difficulties by linking research-based centers," adding, "We expect this to greatly help accelerate the development and commercialization of bio products."
