"Pretending to Trade Used Goods... 20-Year-Old Wearing a 9 Million Won Watch Flees and Gets Arrested"
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A man who fled wearing a luxury watch during a secondhand transaction was caught by the police and arrested.
According to the police on the 31st, the Seoul Western District Court issued an arrest warrant for a man in his early 20s, Mr. A, at the request of the Mapo Police Station that afternoon.
Mr. A is accused of theft for approaching as if to purchase an Omega wristwatch listed on the secondhand trading platform 'Danggeun Market' near the main gate of Hongik University in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu on the 20th of this month, wearing the watch on his wrist and fleeing. The watch is known to be a product worth around 9 million won. Mr. A is also accused of stealing a mobile phone using a similar method in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province.
The police analyzed closed-circuit television (CCTV) and other evidence to track Mr. A's movements and arrested him around 11 p.m. on the 29th at a lodging facility in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
