Special Opening of Yi Seong-gye's Tomb Shimmering with Silver Eulalia Grass
Photo Exhibition at Hwaseong Yungneung and Geonneung, and Gimpo Jangneung
Various cultural events will be held at the Joseon Royal Tombs adorned with autumn foliage. The Cultural Heritage Administration's Office of Royal Palaces and Tombs announced on the 31st that Geonwonneung Tomb within Donggureung in Guri will be open to the public until mid-next month, and photo exhibitions will be held at Yungneung and Geonneung in Hwaseong, as well as Jangneung in Gimpo.
Geonwonneung, which will be specially open from November 2 to 20, is the tomb of Taejo Yi Seong-gye. It is the only Joseon royal tomb covered with silver grass on its mound. According to Taejo's will, the grass was brought from his hometown Hamheung and planted there. It is most beautiful in autumn when it glistens silver. The event operates by advance reservation. Except for Mondays, which are closed days, it is held twice a day. Each session has a capacity of twenty people. Applications can be made on the Joseon Royal Tombs website.
