48 New COVID-19 Cases in Chinese Communities... Significant Spread in 2 Weeks
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] The number of new community COVID-19 cases in China was reported as 48.
The National Health Commission of China announced on the 31st that there were 71 new COVID-19 cases reported on the 30th, of which 48 were community infections excluding imported cases.
The previous day's community infection cases were reported in 8 provinces, with Heilongjiang Province having 19 cases, Inner Mongolia 10 cases, and Gansu Province 9 cases, among others.
In the northeastern Heilongjiang Province, 18 new cases were reported in Heihe, a small city with a population of 1.3 million located across the Amur River (called Heilongjiang in Chinese) from Russia. This marks two consecutive days of double-digit cases following 26 cases the day before.
One case was also reported in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, where mass nucleic acid testing for all residents has been initiated.
Shandong Province, Ningxia, and Yunnan also reported 2 to 3 cases each.
The capital Beijing reported 1 new case, down from 2 the previous day, with cases reported only in Changping District for several days.
