[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, has urged special caution for pre-inspection of agricultural machinery and prevention of safety accidents as the use of agricultural machinery increases during the full-scale autumn harvest season.
According to Jinju City on the 29th, most agricultural machinery safety accidents occur because drivers are directly exposed to danger due to the lack of protective and safety devices on machines such as tillers and combines, which can lead to serious casualties immediately if an accident happens.
To prevent agricultural machinery safety accidents during the harvest season, the city stated that agricultural machinery stored for a long time, such as combines, threshers, and harvesters, must undergo pre-inspection and maintenance. It also emphasized compliance with load capacity during transportation, special caution during nighttime work after sunset, attachment of luminous reflectors or lighting devices on machinery traveling on roads, prohibition of operating machinery under the influence of alcohol, reducing speed in advance when moving on narrow farm roads or slopes, thorough surroundings checks, and strict adherence to safety rules and traffic laws at intersections.

A city official said, “Prevention is the best measure against agricultural machinery safety accidents. Farmers themselves must thoroughly inspect equipment before starting farm work, and especially because safety accidents can happen in an instant when one is careless, they must always remain vigilant during farm work.”
