Jeonju City, All-Out Effort to Secure Next Year's National Budget
Jeonju Mayor Kim Seung-su Visits National Assembly on 29th for Aggressive National Budget Push
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City is making an all-out effort to secure national budget funds to lead Jeonju's development, including the remodeling of Jeonju Baseball Stadium and the establishment of the Green New Deal Garden Knowledge Industry Center.
On the 29th, Jeonju Mayor Kim Seung-su visited the National Assembly and actively engaged in budget securing activities, emphasizing the necessity of national budget support for major projects to the standing committee members in charge and the National Assembly Budget Committee members, including Budget Committee Whip Maeng Seong-gyu.
During meetings with Kim Ui-gyeom, a proportional representative of the Open Democratic Party, and Kang Hoon-sik, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (Chungnam Asan City Eul), Mayor Kim requested support to ensure that the Green New Deal Garden Knowledge Industry Center construction and Jeonju Baseball Stadium remodeling projects are included in the national budget by the relevant standing committees.
He also met with Budget Committee members including Maeng Seong-gyu (Democratic Party, Namdong-gu Gap, Incheon), Park Jin (People Power Party, Gangnam-gu Eul, Seoul), Yang Kyung-sook (Democratic Party, proportional), and Jeong Tae-ho (Democratic Party, Gwanak-gu Eul, Seoul) to propose the inclusion of budgets for four key projects.
The projects Jeonju City is focusing on securing budget for during the National Assembly review stage are: △ Green New Deal Garden Knowledge Industry Center construction (23 billion KRW) △ Jeonju Baseball Stadium remodeling (30 billion KRW) △ Korean Cultural Heritage Content Experience and Exhibition Hall construction (43.3 billion KRW) △ K-Film production base and video industry hub establishment (23.8 billion KRW).
Jeonju City plans to station a national budget promotion team at the National Assembly during the budget review period to provide policy inquiry documents and continue persuasive activities to secure the budget.
Mayor Kim Seung-su said, “As we approach phased daily recovery, securing national budget to create growth engines that will lead Jeonju’s future and improve citizens’ lives is urgent,” adding, “We will make every effort to secure the national budget by closely cooperating with local political circles and Jeonbuk Province until the National Assembly’s budget review is completed.”
