30 COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Namwon... Total 201 Cases
[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] In Namwon, Jeonbuk, 30 additional COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 201.
According to Namwon City on the 28th, the first confirmed case (Namwon case number 171) was a person in their 80s who used the S Senior Welfare Center located in Namwon City and tested positive at 7 a.m. the previous day.
Subsequently, the spouse of case 171 was confirmed positive, and a full inspection of the S Senior Welfare Center was conducted at 10 a.m. the previous day on 42 people (5 users, 14 staff, 3 external instructors), resulting in 26 positive cases.
Most of the confirmed cases are asymptomatic or mild and have completed vaccination.
Accordingly, Namwon City has deployed 100 members of a deep epidemiological investigation team to conduct an epidemiological survey on the infection routes and movement paths of the confirmed cases, and is conducting GPS and card usage history checks, contact classification, and PCR test guidance.
Currently, the situation in Namwon is interpreted as citizens' compliance with personal quarantine rules becoming somewhat lax in line with the WITH COVID-19 atmosphere, and cases of quarantine guideline violations are increasing due to prolonged strengthened quarantine rules.
The city plans to strengthen inspections of quarantine rule compliance at high-risk facilities such as nursing and psychiatric hospitals and facilities, and elderly nursing facilities for people with severe disabilities.
Also, for facilities with a vaccination rate of over 75%, PCR full inspections are conducted once every two weeks, but this will be advanced to once a week for the time being.
The third additional vaccination (booster shot) is scheduled to be administered starting six months after completion, but it will be advanced by one month to start at five months.
Mayor Lee Hwan-joo said, “We hope citizens will follow personal quarantine guidelines such as wearing masks, social distancing, and keeping visitor logs,” and added, “Please minimize visits and contacts with other regions such as the metropolitan area and refrain from unnecessary outings.”
He continued, “If you have early symptoms such as fever, body aches, chills, cough, or sore throat, please visit a screening clinic immediately for testing,” and added, “To restore daily life, we must overcome the hurdle of increasing vaccination rates, and we hope citizens will actively cooperate.”
