Autumn Temple Concert Held at Goseongsa, Boeunsan, Gangjin

[Gangjin＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] On the 25th, Jeonnam Gangjin-gun announced that on the 23rd, a temple music concert where attendees could enjoy the autumn atmosphere and beautiful melodies was held in front of the Daewoongjeon Hall at Goseongsa Temple on Boeunsan Mountain in Gangjin-eup (Chief Monk Jigong).

The concert started at 5 p.m. on a special stage, featuring choral performances such as the Gangjin Maya Choir's "The Hidden Crying Wind Sound," jazz performances by the SRT Concert Band, and a lively stage blending Korean pop and pop music with singer Jang So-jeong.

Following that, traditional Korean musician Shim Se-hee provided an opportunity to find peace of mind in the serene temple setting with fusion gugak (traditional Korean music) including "Sangsahwa." The final stage featured invited singer Shim Shin passionately singing "Only You" and other songs, creating an emotional performance with the audience.

Goseongsa Temple is a branch temple of Daeheungsa Temple, the 22nd district of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, and holds two cultural assets designated by Jeollanam-do, including a bronze Bodhisattva statue and wooden tri-Buddha statues. It is especially famous as a place where one can hear Goam Mojong, one of the eight scenic views of Geumneung, and holds a bell-ringing ceremony every December 31st to welcome the New Year.

Chief Monk Jigong said, "I hope everyone gathered here creates joyful autumn memories," and added, "I am always grateful to those who visit Goseongsa Temple and pray for happiness to fill their homes."

County Governor Lee Seung-ok said, "I hope this temple music concert provides comfort to many exhausted by COVID-19 and becomes a happy time to create good memories," and stated, "We will do our best to create a happy Gangjin that communicates and harmonizes."
