Sancheong-gun Dementia Relief Center Operates Healing Program on Daewonsa Valley Trail
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Sancheong-gun Dementia Safety Center in Gyeongnam announced on the 25th that it conducted a regionally specialized care program titled ‘The Valley Path Where Memory and Healing Whisper.’
This program, designed for dementia patients and their caregivers, was conducted in the form of an exploration of the Daewonsa Valley Path with the assistance of the Jirisan National Park Service.
The center and the park service provided explanations about the history and ecology of the Daewonsa Valley Path and also held a ‘Create Your Own Mandala’ experience using natural materials. The Jirisan National Park Service is designated as a ‘Dementia Overcoming Leading Organization’ that takes the lead in creating a dementia-friendly community.
This program was prepared to foster a dementia-friendly community environment and to promote the mental and physical stability of dementia patients and their families. In particular, it was organized as a time to share emotional empathy and caregiving information to prevent stress and social isolation caused by the caregiving burden on families of dementia patients.
