Yongin City to Fully Launch Dedicated Child Abuse Response Team Starting the 25th
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province has established a dedicated team for effective child abuse investigations and has begun on-site investigations.
Until now, child abuse investigations in Yongin were handled by private organizations such as child protection agencies. However, due to frequent refusals of investigation and threats to investigators, the city reorganized its structure in June to create a Child Protection Team specializing in child abuse investigations and assigned dedicated child abuse officers, officially starting operations on the 25th.
The Child Protection Team consists of seven dedicated child abuse officers and four child protection personnel. They are responsible for all tasks related to child abuse, including on-site investigations, receiving and handling reports, and case management.
Additionally, the city has established a 24-hour reporting hotline for rapid initial response to child abuse and set up a system that allows immediate dispatch upon receiving a report.
When a report is received, dedicated child abuse officers and the police are dispatched to the scene to assess the abuse and take measures to separate and protect the child from the perpetrator.
A city official stated, "To strengthen expertise, we plan to add two more dedicated child abuse officers and two child protection personnel each next month."
