Goseong-gun, Disclosure of Private Contract Status Over the Past 5 Years
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam disclosed on the 21st the number of contracts by local companies over the past five years as requested by the County Council's Administrative Affairs Investigation Special Committee regarding the recent controversy over private contracts.
According to the disclosed data, there are a total of 280 construction companies registered in the area, including 29 general construction companies, 169 specialized construction companies, 43 electrical, information and communication, and fire-fighting companies, 12 forestry business corporations, and 27 others. Among them, some companies operate both general and specialized construction businesses, so the actual number of companies is about 240.
The county has recorded a total of 7,423 construction contracts with construction companies from 2017 to September 2021 through single-estimate private contracts, local bids with two or more participants, and restricted/general competitive bids.
Among the total contracts, single-estimate private contracts for construction projects under 20 million KRW accounted for 5,383 cases, representing 72.5% of the total.
In the case of single private contracts, contracts are concluded under the responsibility of the head of the finance department at the main office, the head of the business office, and the heads of the eup/myeon (township/district) offices.
The county also disclosed the rankings of the top 50 companies with the highest number of single private contracts from 2017 to the present.
The disclosed data is organized in an easy-to-understand manner, showing company names by rank, number of contracts, amounts, and construction license status, which is expected to resolve residents' concerns related to private contracts.
A county official stated, "The administration is doing its best to ensure that private contracts are fair, objective, and transparent, so that benefits are evenly distributed to local companies," adding, "Due to some issues raised during this process, we decided to disclose all related data."
