SF 'Dune' Starts at No. 1 at the Box Office
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The sci-fi blockbuster "Dune" topped the box office on its opening day.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated box office system on the 21st, "Dune," which was released on the 20th, attracted 61,331 viewers and took first place at the box office. Including preview screenings, the cumulative audience reached 66,038.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, "Dune" depicts the epic journey of Paul, the legendary messiah born to ascend the cosmic throne amid a war against evil forces over the life-sustaining resource called spice on the desert planet Arrakis. The film stars actors Timothy Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, and Oscar Isaac. It was released in various formats in Korea, including Super 4D and 4DX.
"Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage," which had been holding the top spot, was pushed to second place with 45,565 viewers. The film, released on the 13th, has attracted 1,263,131 viewers so far.
