Jang Sang-hyun, CEO of Invest Korea, Reappointed as WAIPA Regional Director
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] KOTRA announced on the 21st that Jang Sang-hyun, CEO of Invest Korea, has been re-elected as the East Asia and Southeast Asia regional director of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA).
WAIPA held its general meeting on the 20th in Dubai, UAE. During the two-day meeting, which included board elections, CEO Jang decided to serve an additional two years as WAIPA's East Asia and Southeast Asia director until 2023.
Established in 1995 by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), WAIPA currently has 128 institutions from 109 countries as member states. In South Korea, KOTRA's Invest Korea has been registered as a member since 2001.
CEO Jang stated, "While exploring areas of cooperation among foreign investment promotion agencies of various countries, I will actively promote the achievements of Invest Korea," adding, "I will strive to spread the perception that our country is a stable and attractive investment destination."
