The National Disabled Sports Festival, hosted by the Korea Paralympic Committee, is the largest domestic disabled sports event held nationwide every October. It was canceled last year due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), but this year it will be held on a reduced scale from the 20th to the 25th in Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province.
The Jinju City team will participate in 15 events with 75 athletes, including 12 in boccia, 10 in volleyball, 9 in table tennis, 8 in bowling, and 7 in park golf, raising expectations for medal wins.
Kim Cheon-su, Director of Culture and Tourism of Jinju City, who visited the training center that day, said, “I express my respect for the passion of the athletes who have continuously prepared for the competition despite the difficult situation of COVID-19,” encouraging the athletes. Kim Jae-gyu, Executive Vice Chairman of the Jinju City Disabled Sports Association, said, “I hope this competition, which was held with difficulty, will be an event where all athletes can fully demonstrate the skills they have built up so far.”
