Concluding One Year of Legislative Activities as Child and Youth Council Members Including Election of Chairpersons, Regular Sessions, and Extraordinary Sessions Since November Last Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) held a completion ceremony on the 16th for the members of the ‘3rd Gwangjin-gu Children and Youth Council,’ which promotes participation rights and district administration involvement for children and adolescents.
The ‘Children and Youth Council’ is an educational program that allows children and adolescents in Gwangjin-gu to understand the roles and functions of local councils, experience the entire legislative schedule, and develop their capabilities as democratic citizens in local autonomy.
The 3rd ‘Children and Youth Council’ consisted of 25 children and youth council members. Starting with the inauguration ceremony and member training in November last year, the council elected the chairperson and formed standing committees at the first regular meeting in May this year. Subsequently, through standing committee activities, the second regular meeting, and special sessions, they carried out various legislative activities related to community policies and budgets.
At the completion ceremony, the members reviewed and concluded their year-long activities, including acquiring political literacy through play-based lessons and receiving certificates of completion.
