Gwangju Seo-gu Council Passes Amendment to 'Birth Encouragement Support Ordinance'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 18th that the "Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Support for Childbirth Promotion in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City," proposed by Councilor Kim Young-sun, was approved at the Standing Committee during the 1st Planning and General Affairs Committee meeting of the 299th extraordinary session.
This ordinance amends the eligibility for postpartum care support from "mothers who are not low-income and have given birth to a fourth or subsequent child" to "mothers who are not low-income and have given birth to a third or subsequent child," thereby expanding the scope of postpartum care support.
Councilor Kim Young-sun stated, "I proposed this ordinance to expand the eligibility for postpartum care support to reduce the economic burden incurred after childbirth and to create an environment that encourages childbirth."
