19 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Gyeongnam Province... Total of 18 Cases Linked to Gimhae Manufacturing Company
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] As of 5 p.m. on the 18th, Gyeongnam Province announced that 19 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported within the province.
By region, there are 7 cases in Gimhae, 5 in Changwon, 2 each in Miryang, Geochang, and Geoje, and 1 in Sacheon. Except for one confirmed case in Miryang who entered the country from abroad, all are locally transmitted infections.
By infection route, 6 are related to a manufacturing company located in Gimhae, 5 had contact with confirmed cases within the province, 1 had contact with a confirmed case from another region, 1 is under investigation, 1 is related to the Seoul metropolitan area, and 1 is an overseas entrant.
Among the confirmed cases in Gimhae, 5 and 1 in Changwon are related to the Gimhae manufacturing company. One is an employee, and five are family members.
After one employee of the company was first confirmed positive on the 16th, a full inspection of the company revealed 12 employees confirmed on the 17th, followed by 5 additional confirmed cases on the 18th.
Thus, the total number of confirmed cases related to the company has increased to 18.
