CJ Logistics Launches Fulfillment Service at Yongsan Electronics Market... Reduces Delivery Time by 1-3 Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] CJ Logistics announced on the 18th that it will launch an electronics fulfillment service. With the expansion of product categories following fashion, pet supplies, and daily necessities, the service experience for sellers and consumers is expected to improve significantly.
CJ Logistics will officially operate a fulfillment service that integrates the entire logistics process for electronics in collaboration with ‘E-commerce’, the integrated order information platform for electronics products at Yongsan Electronics Market. The two companies previously signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in August to establish a customized fulfillment service for electronics.
Starting from the 19th, CJ Logistics will receive products from wholesalers and retailers registered on ‘E-commerce’ at its fulfillment center and begin shipping online orders from the 25th. Computer devices such as monitors, keyboards, mice, and Wi-Fi routers will be stored collectively and all logistics tasks including packaging, shipping, and delivery will be handled in an integrated manner according to online orders.
By having CJ Logistics perform logistics tasks previously handled directly by wholesalers and retailers, it is expected to alleviate the burden of warehouse maintenance, logistics operations, and store management.
With CJ Logistics’ fulfillment operation improving logistics efficiency, consumers’ service experience is also expected to be enhanced. The existing three-step process (seller - courier collection - consumer) will be simplified to two steps (fulfillment center - consumer). The reduction in product preparation and shipping time will enable faster delivery to consumers. Compared to the logistics performed individually by wholesalers and retailers, delivery time is expected to be shortened by approximately 1 to 3 days.
In particular, CJ Logistics offers a ‘order today, arrive tomorrow’ service in connection with its courier hub terminal. While general courier services close orders by 3 PM considering packaging and collection times, CJ Logistics’ fulfillment service ships products directly to the Gonjiam Mega Hub after completing shipping tasks, allowing orders placed by midnight to be delivered the next day. Gonjiam Mega Hub is Asia’s largest logistics terminal and serves as a ‘hub’ for distributing products nationwide.
CJ Logistics plans to operate the electronics fulfillment service stably and gradually expand the range of handled products to include computers and small devices in the future.
